Five Lesbian Days
An interesting initiative dedicated to all the women will take place in Rome from 2nd until 6th of June. The event is named Cinque Giornate Lesbiche (Five Lesbian Days) and it is organised by a group of lesbian friends and acquaintances who decided to put their heads together to develop this alternative project. Don´t worry, its not too formal or “institutional”; any woman is invited to join and participate in the meetings and contribute. Many associations have len their support to this happening: among others, we can mention “Azione Gay E Lesbica” from Florence, “Arcilesbica Mediterranea” from Bari, “Ass. Lista Lesbica Italiana”, “Donne Insieme”, “Centro Femminista Separatista” and many more.
The idea is to create a forum for debates and discussions dedicated to different single subjects, such as art, music, poetry, sexuality, rights, theatre etc. Through the analysis of these critical paths it will be easier to develop, or maybe “re-develop”, a solid lesbian identity inside the present society, and focus on the roles, rights, opportunities and realities faced by lesbians today.
No closed program has been decided yet for the event because, as we mentioned before, the organization is still open to suggestions for the debates which will take place. The happening will start on June 2nd at noon. Fee entrance for one day of meetings, debates, art and photo expositions, theatre plays, musical shows, is 8 euros. The cost for the whole 5 days is just 22 euros. It is also important to know that many seminars and expositions can be followed by deaf women, because they will be supported by subtitles and L.I.S. translations.
The event will be hosted by Casa Internazionale delle Donne, located in Via della Lungara 19, Trastevere, in the heart of Rome’s historical centre. Here it will be possible to have lunch breaks in the different bars and have a proper dinner in restaurants like “Bio&Bio” and “Luna e l’altra”.
Considering that “Cinque Giornate Lesbiche” will take place in the beginning of June, very high season in Rome, it would be better to book accommodation in advance: so don’t forget to rent apartments in Rome before signing up for this event.
