I had an Italian boyfriend; he lived with his mother, until she died. He turned out to be a real womanizer. I gave him love and loyalty for many years. It meant nothing to him, in the end. He set up a woman in an apartment 20 years his junior, and expected me to accept it, and still see him.

Well we italians havel loads of stereotypes on americans too, which some proved to be true, judging by experience :). Most italians have nothing to do with the mafia actually, there's of course an high amount of people who are awarely or not, involved with it in some regions of the south. By Involved i don't mean that they HELP, i also mean that they're victims. The amount of people that work for mafia families and associated with it are about 239,200. We have over 60 millions people here.

Nice article, I think a lot of people from countries like American, Canada, UK, Australia etc might be surprised that Italian men see their mothers everyday and often live at home till they are married, even if that is to 35! Family is very important and living with your family is not an embarrassment.
A good summary on Italian culture, but still, every single person is unique :)
